Arya and Ygritte and Malena Freschi: Furry Friends Fur-Ever Tail

“I grew up with cats my entire life,” says Malena. “When we lost our Colbie, my partner Stuart and I were both so devastated that it took us three years before we agreed to give our hearts to another kitty. I started looking, found Furry Friends, and, ultimately, our new babies who were originally named Goldie and Clover.

“Stuart and I met them at the end of May and fell in love. They were so sweet and so well adjusted. They were obviously shown love, given excellent care, and lived with a really lovely foster mom. We were able to bring them home a few days later after they were spayed.

“We adopted two cats for several reasons. We have a senior Golden Retriever, Ruby. I wanted our new kitty to have a companion and not rely solely on Ruby to entertain and snuggle with while we were out of the house. I also heard that having two cats makes them less destructive and feel happier. I’m so glad we got two. Getting sisters was the best decision we made. They absolutely love each other! They have a connection none of my other cats ever had.

“Ygritte and Arya bring so much love and joy to our lives! They have uniquely different personalities. Ygritte, we joke, is part dog. She plays fetch and loves to bring us her toys. Her favorite toys are the hair ties that she steals from my bathroom counter. She loves belly rubs and rolling around on her back. She has ‘big sister’ energy and loves giving 'vampire kisses' to her sister who seems to love them. She’s a little bowlegged and has a confidence I’ve never seen in a cat before. She loves kneading at night and snuggling closer to your feet than your lap.

“Arya is slightly insecure, a little more jumpy when it comes to sudden noises, and at first Ygritte was clearly her protector. Possibly the runt of the litter, Arya is now a super snuggler. She loves getting kisses, lying as close to you as possible, burrowing in the blankets and being right in your face. She gives nose kisses and loves jumping on your shoulders for a ride around the house. She loves belly rubs and lying like a baby in your arms.

“Bright and curious, the sisters are unfazed by visitors or new people, and while it took them a bit of time to get used to Ruby, they’re now good friends. Ruby has found a new spark of energy and is always excited about playing with them.

“I will always adopt littermates going forward. I’m so grateful that I found Furry Friends.”
