Nala and the Kellys: Furry Friends Fur-Ever Tail
“Nala (formerly known as Porkchop) is the latest of the kitties we’ve had through the years,” Shanna says. “My daughter picked her because of her playful, loving nature and adorable face.
“She was immediately comfortable in her home base room and was introduced to the rest of the house and family within a week. Nala is like an infant and has caused some loss of sleep on our part, but she’s also brought us so much laughter with her goofy antics. She’s truly a character!
“She gets along with all three of our other cats, but is best friends with our one-year-old male. She plays with anything and everything, but her favorite things are soft hair ties, especially after she’s soaked them in the water bowl! Anything that makes a lot of noise is also great fun to her.
“While Nala loves to snuggle up to us and loves to be petted, she only likes being held at certain times. She has to be in the right mood in order for us to hold her. When she is though, she will rub all over our faces and pull us into her and lick our faces. Not to mention the fact that she meows and calls for us if she wakes up and thinks she’s alone.”
As for Nala’s most endearing quirks or habits: “She has so many,” laughs Shanna. “Everything she does is endearing and silly. She loves to parkour off the walls, play with all forms of water, jump to attack our bums (usually fairly gently), head butt everything and give lots of kisses. She also thinks that one of her fur siblings throws litter on the floor just for her to roll in like a hamster taking a dust bath. She’s hilarious and sweet!
“At night, Nala sleeps wherever she wants. She likes to take over the bed when we aren’t in it. She also sleeps in one of the various cat beds and cat trees around the house, on the highest perch in the living room or on a shelf next to the dresser in our main bedroom.”
