Thank You Jaimie Garver and Ironworkers USA Federal Credit Union

Holding a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management and a Vet Assistant Certificate, Jaimie started volunteering as a shift worker two days a week with Furry Friends in 2019 when she was looking for a volunteer opportunity to help cats in the community.

“I got involved with Furry Friends because I’ve always loved cats and believe strongly in volunteering within the community,” Jaimie says. “Furry Friends was a great opportunity for me to combine both passions. Currently the President of the Board of Furry Friends, I’m responsible for strategic planning, business operations and the overall sustainability of the rescue. My favorite part, though, is helping with the medical care of the cats and spending time with them.”

It was through Jaimie that Ironworkers USA Federal Credit Union (she is the COO of the organization) learned about Furry Friends. And we gratefully welcomed them as our newest Platinum Sponsor this year! According to their mission statement: “Ironworkers USA Credit Union is dedicated to promoting community development in all of the areas it conducts business and to provide affordable financial services to low-income people. In doing so, we will help them build assets and achieve financial stability.”

Expanding on this, Jaimie adds,” They became a Sponsor because they’re always looking for ways to make a meaningful impact within the communities they serve, whether it’s helping people or helping animals.

“My favorite part about being involved with Furry Friends is hanging out with the cats and seeing how they change as they get healthy and feel loved,” she continues. “I love seeing those who came in fearful and aggressive turn into lovebugs once they see that we’re here to help them. My biggest challenge, on the other hand, is not having enough resources to save them all. Given the current animal welfare crisis, it weighs heavily on our hearts whenever we must turn people away because we simply lack the space and/or resources to help them.
